Gas velocity measurement

Gas velocity measurement

Determination of the gas velocity with Pitot tubes.

L- or Prandtl-Pitot tubes, S-Pitot tubes, Difference pressure gauge

With our Pitot tubes and difference pressure sensors can you measure:

  • the duct pressure,
  • gas velocity
  • volumetric flow rate.

Advantage:

  • cause in pipe lines no significant pressure loss,
  • largely independent of position,
  • deviation between axis and flow direction can be up to 15° with no effect,
  • need only small hole in the duct wall,
  • all times quick measurements.

In general, pitot tubes are combinations of two tubes, one for total pressure and one for the static pressure. The difference between these pressures is the dynamic pressure. This dynamic pressure is in relationship with the gas density and velocity. By knowing of the gas density can you calculate very easy the velocity.

The Pitot tube measurement with our high-precision micromanometers allows for much more accurate readings than other methods.
